There’s nothing quite like the summertime! There’s beautiful weather, cookouts on the grill, lounge time at the pool, baseball games, and summer vacation.
There’s a reason the term “dog days of summer” exists. It is time where we all push the “pause” button and slow down to enjoy life.
As we move into finals week this week, that means that for many of you, graduation day is finally here! Although I have a summer semester ahead of me before graduation, I’m very excited for many of my fellow classmates who will be participating in commencement this weekend.
We are officially at the start of May which means the end of the spring semester is very closely approaching. With final exams coming up next week, many of you might be stressed out while preparing for final tests and completing projects.
It is hard to believe but spring is here and we’re almost at the end of the semester. With graduation just on the horizon, many of you will begin to embark on a new adventure. You’ll soon complete your degree and join the distinguished group of Clarion University Alumni.
In the last few weeks, we’ve been experiencing some amazing spring weather. There’s nothing better than walking out into the sunshine on your lunch break or after work and going to bed at night with the windows open and the fresh air coming in! Spring always serves as a reminder for me for many things.
When I finally made the decision to go back to school for my Master’s degree, it was a decision that I postponed for a few years after completing my undergraduate studies and had taken the time to give lots and lots of careful thought.

For Virtual Campus students, many of us are pursuing a degree while also balancing other responsibilities of our home and work lives. Additionally, distance education students have to be able to work independently, set their own schedules, and meet deadlines all outside of the traditional classroom.
Just when I thought Facebook couldn’t get any more addicting, along came another interesting sharing/social site that has truly got me hooked!
A few months ago, I signed up for this site to try it out as “research,” since I work in the marketing industry.

Thankfully, it has been an exceptionally mild winter this year on the east coast. Ordinarily, I’m used to cold winter days and even colder nights. Sometimes, it’s just downright bitter cold outside. I also usually have to prepare for snowfall each year. Every winter, I watch the weekly weather report much closer in the chance that snow is going to be in the forecast and I have to plan extra time for my daily commute to and from work.
As a busy graduate student who juggles school and a full-time job, I don’t often have a lot of free time to myself. But when I do, I really enjoy spending it in the kitchen trying out new recipes or revisiting favorites ones too!
Sometimes the unknown scares us. Sometimes it downright intimidates us and we aren’t even sure why. I guess we’re creatures that like some level of predictability day-to-day. That’s why we have our daily routines that provide us with a sense of comfort.
Last week, our President Karen M. Whitney, released the top 10 reasons why Clarion University is such a great institution.
I know what you’re thinking. It is hard to believe they could narrow the list down to just 10 reasons. But remember, this is a TOP 10 list – otherwise, we all could create a pretty lengthy list why Clarion University rocks.
Last week was Campus Action Week at Clarion University; an initiative through the Association of Pennsylvania State College & University Faculties (APSCUF) to speak up against continued cuts in state funding from the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).
Earlier this week, Governor Corbett proposed an additional 20 percent cut to the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, in addition to the 18 percent he has already previously proposed.
