Dr. Uwe Siemon-Netto spoke to a Clarion University news reporting class April 14 about “Religion Coverage in the Media.” Siemon-Netto is a former religious affairs editor for United Press International and director of the Center for Lutheran Theology and Public Life, Capistrano Beach and Irvine, California.
He now works as an international journalist, editorial consultant, Lutheran lay theologian and a journalism instructor at various colleges. He is affiliated with The League of Faithful Masks, a nonprofit corporation whose purpose is to offer courses guided by ethos in journalism, economics, politics and many fields to all levels of schools.
His specialty is the coverage of religious topics for the secular media.

Clarion University kicked off the 2009- 2010 Martin Luther King Jr. Speaker Series on Tuesday with a poetry reading from poet, Patricia Wesley. Wesley is the author of “Before The Palm Could Bloom: Poems of Africa,” “Becoming Ebony” and “The River is Rising.” She won the Crab Orchard Award in 2002 and the Victor E. Ward Foundation Crystal Award for Contribution to Liberian Literature. More »

Vanessa German performs one of her poems. German concluded the MLK series. German is a Pittsburgh native and has won awards for her work in art and culture.
The final presentation of the 2008-2009 Martin Luther King Jr. Series took place Monday, March 23 in Hart Chapel.
After many different speakers, the last one showcased the art of poetry.
It featured Vanessa German, a spoken word poet from Pittsburgh, who performed a number of her poems for the large audience who attended the event.
German received training at the Los Angeles Conservatory of the Performing Arts, Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, South West College, University of Cincinnati, and the Los Angeles Theater Academy, according to information posted on Clarion University’s Web site. More »
