On Nov. 20, the Golden Eagle wrestling team traveled to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa., for two matches against two top 10 programs in Illinois and Lehigh.
The Eagles went 0-2 on the day but didn’t go down easily.

Friends, family and student supporters ringed the Clarion University Rec Center on Sunday, Nov. 6 for the wrestling team’s first tournament of the season.
Clarion hosted the Clarion-Knight Point Open for a myriad of Division I teams from across the nation.
On July 5, Clarion University hired Matt Dernlan as its new head wrestling coach.
Dernlan replaces former head coach, Teague Moore, who took over head coaching at American University.
This marks only the sixth head coach Clarion has hired since 1969.
The 81st NCAA Division I Wrestling Championship took place last Thursday, March 17, through Saturday, March 19, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa.
Clarion had two NCAA qualifiers competing this year, 157-pound sophomore James Fleming and 165-pound junior Bekzod Abdurakhmonov.
Clarion University’s student recreation center was the site of the National Collegiate Open Wrestling Championship on Saturday, Feb. 19.
The tournament featured more than one hundred wrestlers from universities nationwide, from Cal-Poly to Edinboro University.
Clarion Golden Eagle Bekzod Abdurakhmonov successfully placed third in the tournament in the 165 weight class.

The Clarion Golden Eagles wrestling team battled a duo of opponents last weekend, losing once to University of Pittsburgh on Thursday, Feb. 10, and coming away with a strong
win on Saturday, Feb. 12, against Cleveland State University.
On Thursday, the Golden Eagles played host to the Pittsburgh Panthers at Tippin Gymnasium.
The Clarion Golden Eagles wrestling team had a tough weekend.
They dropped three home matches against Bloomsburg, Rider and Ohio University.
Scott Joseph had a big upset in the 174-pound weight class on Friday, Feb. 4, but it wasn’t enough to take down Bloomsburg as they escaped with a 19-15 victory.
The Clarion Golden Eagles wrestling squad traveled to Kent State University last Friday for a match against the nationally ranked, No. 17 Golden Flash, a fight that ended in a massive Kent State victory, 44-6.
Clarion began its season with a record of 3-1, but had since fallen three consecutive times before facing Kent State.
The Clarion University wrestling team brought home the PSAC championship crown this past Saturday, Dec. 4, at Bloomsburg University.
This was Clarion’s first PSAC title since 1994.
Clarion had three individual winners at the event.
The Clarion Golden Eagle wrestling team traveled to Brockport, N.Y. for the Oklahoma Gold Invite on Saturday, Nov. 13.

Clarion to a fourth place finish out of eight teams that attended the invitational.
On Saturday, Nov. 6, the Clarion University wrestling team opened its season up, hosting the second annual Knight Point Tournament at the Recreation Center.
Clarion had two first place winners.
Sophomores Joe Waltko (133 pound weight class) and James Fleming (157) won their respective weight classes.
CU Wrestling kicked off their season with the Knight Point – Clarion Open on Saturday.
