On Sunday, Nov. 20, the Clarion University men’s basketball team picked up a much needed win against East Stroudsburg University. With the win, Head Coach Ron Righter picked up his 400th career victory. That is a pretty impressive feat at any level of coaching.

The Clarion University men’s basketball team played three games in a five-day span, but only came away with one victory. On Friday night, Nov. 11, the Golden Eagles lost a close one, 82-81 against Virginia Union University. Clarion had a chance to win the game, but Calvin Edwards’ shot missed as time expired.

Clarion University’s men’s basketball team has had the same head coach for the past 23 seasons, and that isn’t a bad thing. Head coach Ron Righter has brought success to the program. He has been assisted by Al Modrejewski for 19 of his 24 years.

The Clarion men’s basketball team fell to Indiana University of Pennsylvania last Saturday, Feb. 19, at Waldo S. Tippin gymnasium. The loss gave Clarion its seventh loss in the conference, and put it in a must-win situation for the remainder of the games. The game started out evenly contested from both teams.

Clarion men’s basketball team fell to Gannon University 76-67 at Tippin Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 29, dropping its third game in conference play and fifth game overall. The difference in this game was the hot shooting by the Gannon Golden Knights. Gannon shot 56.3 percent overall and 50 percent from three point land.

Two of the most dominant guards in the PSAC share the same last name, and both play for the Golden Eagles. Jamar Harrison and Lloyd Harrison, not related, combined for 45 points in a 92-67 blowout win on Monday, Dec. 6 against Michigan-Dearborn.
