New printers will decrease spending

CLARION, Pa., Dec. 2 — Most people don’t consider 10 cents to be that much to print a sheet of paper. But the Clarion University purchasing department did some math, and every copy does add up.

The majority of expenses comes from changing print cartridges for the 540 printers, mostly Hewlett Packard, found on campus.

Options sought for Siler

CLARION, Pa., Nov. 3 – It has been almost a month since news of the closing of the Earl R. Siler Child Care and Development Center was announced.

This news has impacted faculty to student-parents to education majors. The center is being closed due to financial reasons and action has been taken on all levels to find another option rather than shutting Siler’s doors.

Charges filed in stabbing

News Briefs

A fight in Eagle Commons ended with Daney Wyant stabbing LeVaughn Robinson twice in the leg Oct. 28.

Clarion University Police charged Wyant, a freshman from Erie, with simple assault, aggravated assault and harassment.

Wyant was arraigned before District Magistrate Dwayne Quinn, who set bail at $2,500.

CLARION, Pa., Oct. 28 – While children in Clarion enjoyed their Wednesday night trick-or-treating, a different kind of commotion happened on campus. The Chandler Dining Hall in the Eagle Commons was the site of a stabbing around 6:20 p.m.

Campus day care to be closed

Dr. John T. Groves, dean of the college of education and human services, announced Oct. 6 that the Earl R. Siler Child Care and Development Center would be closing its doors on Dec. 24, if not sooner.

The center, located in the basement of Ralston Hall, has been serving Clarion University students and faculty, as well as the local community, for almost 20 years.

CUP professors get published

Several Clarion University professors have recently published articles or books.

Dr. Laurie Occhipinti of the Anthropology Department edited and contributed to a collection of articles written with a group of colleagues.

The collection, “Faith-Based Organization: Neoliberalism, and Development in Latin America and the Carribbean”, started with a conference presentation and ended with the colleagues deciding to put their presentation into a publication.
