The Clarion men’s basketball team fell to Indiana University of Pennsylvania last Saturday, Feb. 19, at Waldo S. Tippin gymnasium.
The loss gave Clarion its seventh loss in the conference, and put it in a must-win situation for the remainder of the games.
An absolute thriller took place this past Saturday, Feb. 19, when Clarion women’s basketball team hosted Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
Last time these two teams met, it was a total beat down. IUP handled Clarion easily, winning 72-46.
The overall number one seed in the District 9 Class A tournament belongs to undefeated Venango Catholic.
There are 15 teams in the tournament, and the Vikings are the only team to get a first round bye.
Over the past couple of years, the Big East Conference has emerged as college basketball’s top conference.
Last year the conference sent eight teams to the NCAA Tournament, matching its total from the previous year.
In a few weeks when Selection Sunday rolls around, we may see that number matched or even surpassed by the Big East Conference.
Last Saturday, Feb. 12, the Clarion Golden Eagles men’s basketball team was able to keep its post-season dreams alive as they got a clutch conference win against the Fighting
Scots of Edinboro.
This game was the same as all recent games for the Golden Eagles; it came down to the wire.
The Clarion Golden Eagles women’s basketball team put up quite a battle this past Saturday, Feb. 12, at McComb Fieldhouse at Edinboro University.
The effort fell short though, and Edinboro won the game 68-57.
Edinboro improved to 9-1 in the PSAC West and 19-3 overall.
The Clarion Golden Eagles men’s basketball team hosted Slippery Rock University on Saturday, Feb 5.
This was the first encounter between the teams since Clarion lost to The Rock by 10 on Jan. 12.
This time around, however, The Rock had to play at Waldo S.
The buzz around Los Angeles last week was not good.
A lot of people, including former players, questioned if it was time for the Lakers to panic.

The Golden Eagles women’s basketball team grabbed a conference victory this past Saturday, Feb. 5, beating Slippery Rock University 52-45.
Freshman Emma Fickel started things off for Clarion when she splashed home a three-pointer to give the Golden Eagles the early lead.

overall.
The difference in this game was the hot shooting by the Gannon Golden Knights.
The Golden Eagles women’s basketball team fell to the Gannon Knights this past Saturday, Jan. 29, extending its losing streak to five games.
The Golden Eagles struggled most of the game, but found some momentum late in the second half when they came back from a 16-point deficit to make it 66-60 with 3:34 to
play.
Two of the most dominant guards in the PSAC share the same last name, and both play for the Golden Eagles.
Jamar Harrison and Lloyd Harrison, not related, combined for 45 points in a 92-67 blowout win on Monday, Dec. 6 against Michigan-Dearborn.
The Golden Eagles men’s basketball team were 66.7% from behind the arc thanks to Mike Sherry and Paul McQueen, beating the University of District of Columbia 83-70 on
Monday, Nov. 29.
Sherry was 6-9 from three-point land, and McQueen was perfect, hitting four of four from downtown.
