In his final game as a member of the Clarion University football team, senior Alfonso Hoggard put on a show, as his team won big, 49-10 over visiting Millersville University on Saturday, Nov. 13.

The tailback ran for 211 yards and three touchdowns.

This gave him 1,054 rushing yards for the season, and he finished his career with 2,350 rushing yards, 27 rushing touchdowns, 6,272 all-purpose yards and 34 overall
touchdowns.

Senior wide receiver, Jacques Robinson, had three catches for 54 yards and a touchdown in his final game.

He ended the season with 44 catches for 547 yards and four touchdowns.

Robinson set the Clarion record for catches in a career, with 207.

He also had 2,456 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.

Nick Sipes, a senior linebacker, had 10 tackles, including two for a loss on Saturday.

He finished the season with 107 tackles and his career with 302 tackles.

Fellow senior Joe Fox had eight tackles in the game.

On Clarion’s first drive, Hoggard busted open a 53-yard touchdown run, less than a minute into the game.

The next Golden Eagle possession ended similar to the first one.

Hoggard again took the handoff, made a cut back and ran 64 yards to increase the lead to 14-0.

After Millersville cut the lead to 14-3, Clarion marched down the field 66 yards on 11 plays to score another touchdown.

Freshman quarterback, Ben Fiscus, finished the drive with a two-yard touchdown run to make the score 21-3.

“This group never quit or stopped working. When we were 0-5, the guys could have tanked and they didn’t,” head coach Jay Foster said.

Fiscus scored again, this time on a 44-yard draw play.

Senior place kicker, Robert Mamula’s fourth extra point of the day gave Clarion a 28-3 lead at half time.

Clarion’s first drive of the second half ended just like its first drive of the game.

They got the ball when Millersville punter, Jeff Lawson, tried scrambling and punting, fumbled the ball, and Clarion took over at the MU 20-yard line.

Four plays later, Hoggard scored his third and final touchdown on a six-yard run.

Later in the third quarter, Fiscus hooked up with Robinson on a post pattern for a 20-yard touchdown, giving them a 42-3 lead with 2:47 left in the third.

After a late Millersville touchdown, sophomore John Fuhrer scored on a nine-yard run to make the score 49-10.

Clarion honored 13 seniors before the game.

Along with the guys who scored, or had tackles or kicks in the game, Clarion honored Craig Bunney, David Dunn, Danielson Gilbert, Gerald Hudson, Kory Kusick, Arminas Maciulis,
Ben Maund and Chris Smeltzer.

“I told them if they continue to employ the work ethic and dedication that they showed here at CU in football to whatever they choose as professions, they will be tremendously
successful,” Foster said.

Clarion finished the 2010 campaign with a 4-7 record.
