Two of the most dominant guards in the PSAC share the same last name, and both play for the Golden Eagles.

Jamar Harrison and Lloyd Harrison, not related, combined for 45 points in a 92-67 blowout win on Monday, Dec. 6 against Michigan-Dearborn.

Jamar Harrison led the team in scoring with 24 points and dished out five assists as well.

He also excited the crowd with a few powerful dunks in transition.

“I got a lot of good passes from my teammates, and they set me up in a good position with the ball,” Jamar said.

“Once I started feeling it I got in a groove and rolled with it.”

Point guard Lloyd Harrison continued to dominate shooting 70 percent from the floor and scoring 21 points with eight assists.

He was the main reason the Golden Eagles took a commanding 45-25 lead at halftime, giving them complete control of the game.

The Golden Eagles came out sloppy in the second half, but were still able to maintain their lead.

At times the defense wasn’t there and players from Michigan-Dearborn were making easy baskets.

“We are continuing to play well together. The thing we need to work on is help side defense, once we get that tight I think we will be an overall better team,” Lloyd said.

Paul McQueen had another double double scoring 16 points and grabbing 13 boards.

Mike Sherry added three 3-pointers and Bud Teer just missed a double double scoring eight points with 10 rebounds.

Head coach Ron Righter liked that the team grabbed their fourth straight win, but knows his team has plenty of room for improvement.

“I’m torn (on the game),” coach Righter said.

That’s two games in a row where I think we have controlled the tempo and got out to a lead and I think some sloppy play came in.”

“We’re not there yet, we’re not where we need to be. We’re trying to strive for consistency and trying to play forty minutes, thats our goal. If we don’t play forty minutes in
conference play then some of these leads would vanish, and we would be in sorry shape. We’ve got to be able to put two halves together and we have to be more consistent to
become a better basketball team.”

Clarion will try to become 5-0 for the first time since 1991 on Wednesday, Dec. 8, when they face a good Pitt-Johnstown team.

“We will have to be good on offensive and defensive transition,” graduate assistant David Blanks said.

“We have to do a good job on Patrick Grubbs, their big man He has had a lot of success against us the last couple of years. We will also have to stop their main scorer Danny
Branch.”
