Clarion finishes third in tune up for PSAC championships this weekend

Clarion Women’s Cross Country team competed in the Mercyhurst/Gannon Invitational on Saturday placing third behind Wayne State and Seton Hill in Fairview.

The team had three runners in the top 15, four in the top 21 and four more in the top 50.

Ciara Shorts led Clarion placing 10th in the race with a time of 24:39.

Just behind her was Megan Toddy in 11th place with 24:42.

Next was Kate Reinhart in 14th place, running the race in 25:03 and Allison Regan in 21st, finishing in 25:52.

Clarion collected 89 points in the meet placing them in third place behind Seton Hill with 88 points and Wayne State with 23 points total.

The team also had four more runners placing in the top 50 of the competition, starting with Jeana Schwerer in 33rd and a time of 26:24.

Next was Jamie Wyatt in 38th finishing in 26:37, Sarah Loughner in 42nd with 26:53 and Alexis Carter in 49th with a time of 27:31.

Placing behind Clarion in fourth and fifth places was Gannon University with 106 points and Alderson-Broaddus with 108 points.

The girls will travel to California University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 30, to begin the PSAC Championships.
