Clarion divers open up season

The Clarion University Diving teams hosted the Fall Classic on Saturday, Oct. 23, and the Clarion Diving Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 24, to open up their 2010-11 season.
The event was held at the W.S. Tippin Natatorium.
Clarion senior diver Logan Pearsall, the 2010 “NCAA D-II Diver of the Year,” won three of the four events over the weekend.
Pearsall won the three meter board on Saturday with 324.83 points, and finished fourth on one meter with 274.72.
Pearsall then won both boards on Sunday with 330.70 points in the one-meter, and 339.05 points in the three-meter.
Also, with strong performances for the Golden Eagles were freshman diver Ethan Merritt, junior Justin Duncan and freshman Seth Brandenburg.
Merritt won the one-meter on Saturday with a total of 317.62, and was second on three meter with 307.65 points.
On Sunday, he was third on both one (287.90) and three meter (284.80) boards.
Duncan, a two-time All-American last year, was second on one meter (298.95) and third on three meter (282.0) on Saturday, and finished second on both boards on Sunday
tallying 291.60 on one meter and 294.70 on three meter.
Brandenburg was seventh on one meter on Saturday (224.17) and fifth on one meter Sunday (259.50).
Senior diver Kayla Kelosky, the 2009 and 2010 “NCAA D-II Female Diver of the Year,” led the women.
Kelosky won three of four events over the weekend pacing the Golden Eagle diving team.
On Saturday, Kelosky won both boards by scoring 276.68 on one meter and 325.87 on three meter. Kelosky’s win on three meter over second place Cassie Chetosky (287.40),
was a win over last year’s NCAA D-II three-meter champion.
On Sunday, Kelosky won the one-meter board scoring 281.15 points and was second on three meter with 305.20.
Also participating for the Golden Eagles were senior Kim Ogden, senior Jessica Munoz, senor Whitney Dudek and freshman Ariel Webb.
Ogden placed fifth on one meter (238.58) and three meter (238.87) on Saturday, and then took ninth on one meter (209.55) and eighth on three meter (232.20) on Sunday.
Ogden placed ninth on three meter at nationals last year.
Munoz was eighth on one meter (195.08) and ninth on three meter (173.92) on Saturday and 17th on one meter (151.60) and 16th on three meter (165.20) on Sunday.
Webb was 10th on both boards on Saturday and 17th on one meter and 18th on three meter on Sunday.
Both teams will travel to Carnegie Mellon University on Saturday, Oct. 30., at 11 a.m.
