CLARION, Pa., October 6 – Clarion University is going through all sorts of new changes. Older buildings are being knocked down to make way for new and improved structures.
Chandler, the old dining hall, is one of the buildings that has been demolished to make room for updated learning facilities.
“As of now, (Chandler) will temporarily be a parking lot,” said Carolyn Miller of the Admissions Office.
“It will not remain a parking lot forever, but will be renovated into suites like the new ones the university just built,” said Miller.
It is not yet clear when the construction for the suites will begin, so for now it will just become extra parking.
Universities all over the country are updating their facilities to intrigue future students and also to accommodate the already enrolled students.
Clarion University is wasting no time getting rid of older buildings to make way for new ones that will increase and better the education of students.
As for the new STC, students have mixed feelings.
“I really like the set-up of the building. I just don’t like that the rooms are suffocating and hot. I don’t think that they should have designed the buildings where the windows can’t open,” said sophomore sociology major Morgan Smith.
Plans for the big hole that once was Pierce Science Center will also see spacial improvement.
A quad area is going to be built for students to relax and have as a study area, according to the Clarion University Web site.
It will also have wireless internet for the students who wish to study there.
