The messages were almost as numerous as the protest groups in Friday’s demonstration march from Oakland to Pittsburgh, the site of the G-20 Summit.

“Our sacrifice is not for your profit,” said Jose Vasquez, spokesman for Iraq Veterans Against the War. During a demonstration prior to the march, he introduced veterans of the war who shared their personal experiences.

Nuno Ribero, an anthropology student at Penn State, wasn’t joining in the march, but he was filming it as part of a project for United Students Against Sweatshops. Liam O’Loughlin, an English graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh was making signs expressing environmental concerns. He explained the group of graduate students works with Free the Planet.
