John Battaglia Jr. discussed how students can access their “inner
Rockstar” during a presentation Wednesday sponsored by Clarion University activities committee.
“Inside you lies a Rockstar to be born, today,” Battaglia said. “You have to make a choice, Will you keep it locked up? Will you let it out?”
A graduate of Lousianna State University, Battaglia entered the field of his “dream” job. Working with celebrities such as Beyonce, Madonna and Usher, Battaglia was living his “dream.”
“I was everywhere, on the red carpet at the Video Music Awards, to after parties with Usher, but I was not happy,” Battaglia said.
In 2001, Battaglia decided he wanted to coach people and bring out their inner Rockstars. Battaglia spoke about three areas that people need to work on in order to be true Rockstars.
“Inside you is guts, not the type of guts you are thinking but the guts that is in your mind and heart,” said Battaglia.
No one is born to be a Rockstar; people become Rockstar leaders.
The next area is the “outer” area. Everything people do, from the way they dress to the way they act says something about them.
The final area is social networking. The skills to be a leader and meeting others, is the key to success.
Battaglia said to be a leader one has to be true to his or her nature because people will be able to tell.
“If you start where you are now, people will notice you,” Battaglia said.
Battaglia whose goal is to help college leaders bring out their best, has met success through his coaching on MTV’s Made, books and even an audio book. Battagiai said
“The unlived life make a living rather than living your life.”
