After a year of hard work, members of the Greek system finally got the reward they were looking for.

According to Shawn Hoke, interim director of Campus Life at Clarion, the challenge first started in the fall of 2008 when the average grade point average among the fraternities at Clarion was a 2.985. Hoke then announced that if they were able to bump their grade point average to a 3.0 he would shave his head.

The challenge was met when 2009 grades were compiled and indicated a jump in grade point average to a 3.039.

This evening in the Gemmell Student Complex, sorority and fraternity members, as well as Hoke’s family and members of the administration gathered for refreshments and music with the finale being the removal of Hoke’s hair.

Executive board members of the Interfraternity Council took the first swipes with the clippers; other members of the Interfraternity Council and the Panhellenic Council completed further shaving.

The event ended with a bald Hoke sitting on a stool, looking down at the hair that once grew from his head.
