UAB announces CampusFest line-up

1 Comment 25 March 2010

Friday, April 23 will be the first night of a promised two nights for this year’s CampusFest. The University Activities Board has managed to land four widely different artists for the two night special.

Post-grunge band Tantric is set to headline opening night with Advocate, winner of Clarion University’s Battle of the bands starting the show. Tantric has opened for bands like Creed and Kid Rock in the past and their latest album “Mind Control” was released to fair reviews last year.

Night two will also feature Advocate as the opening band, Josh Gracin, Matt Nathanson and Cobra Starship will be rounding out the show and providing a diverse collection of music.

American Idol fans may remember Josh Gracin from the second season where he placed fourth. Since the show, Gracin has been touring the country performing while also releasing a number of studio albums.

Matt Nathanson has been releasing music since 1993 and has toured with the likes of John Mayer, Guster and OAR.

The main event, Cobra Starship, will be using CampusFest as a warm up for their upcoming “Too Fast For Love” tour. Most widely known for their involvement in the “Snakes on a Plane” theme song, Cobra Starship has a synthpop vibe sure to make those in attendance feel like dancing.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at the Information Desk in Gemmell or online at the Clarion store. Tickets for Friday are $10 and $25 ($15 for students) for Saturday.
Those who buy tickets for the Saturday night show will also get a ticket for Fridays show absolutely free.

this lineup is horrible. they couldn’t get anyone else? you’re better off going to pittsburgh and spending the same amount to see a band with actual talent.
