Just another Seth Macfarlane creation set to be another version of Family Guy. On Sept. 27, the new show by Family Guy creator Seth Macfarlane aired to bring audiences a spin-off of the Popular Family Guy animated series. The show centers on Cleveland Brown who is the neighbor of Family Guy’s main character Peter Griffin, and his family.
This Family guy spin off involves Cleveland moving from Quahog, Rhode Island to the fictional town of Stoolbend Virginia to start a new life with a new family. The show is creator Seth MacFarlane’s third show after “American Dad” to be aired on fox highlighting his new version of humor and animation. Besides the main character Cleveland, other characters in the show include Cleveland’s new wife Donna Tubbs, his son Cleveland Jr., Donna’s son and daughter Rallo and Roberta, and a group of neighbors including a Redneck, a Bear, and a 32 year-old hipster who just wants to be cool.
The issues that are dealt with during the program are the same as ones found in Family Guy and American Dad. It really depends on the sense of humor of the viewer to see any difference in this new program, but for the most part the Cleveland Show is just re-written material.
There are some humorous parts of the show, the idea of a Bear as a neighbor that acts like a person brings something slightly new to the seen, but then again is pretty-much a rip off of the idea of the talking dog Brian in Family guy. There is also a small person who at first appears to be a child, but when they begin talking it becomes obvious he is not. This whole idea comes from the Family Guy’s Stewie is almost the same in the fact that he is a talking baby.
Over all the show is humorous, but maybe not as humorous as viewers find Family Guy. This show will continue with the season, but in the long run it may end up being just a re-written family guy where the main characters are a different family of a different race. At the same time this show could be just what Family Guy needs to maintain a well rounded audience.
